Update – Thursday, December 6, 2007
Please note that much of the information contained in this update does not represent a final determination, and could very likely change in the coming days or weeks.  It is the intent of this communication to be a good-faith effort to keep you apprised as to general information so that you can stay ahead of rumors and speculation.  Please do not take any of this content as a guarantee of what will be happening in either the short-term or long-term, and be patient and understanding as things may change.

Win an MRI
As of Thursday afternoon, we had received over 171,000 votes and were increasing steadily.  Our lead over Lockport NY (the second-place hospital) stands at just over 74,000 votes with 25 days to go.  Siemens is getting ready to do a national media blitz, which could result in the other hospitals in the contest picking up a block of votes quickly, so please don't quit voting just because it seems like we can rest.

SRH Abatement and Demolition
Big Dog Demolition out of Atlanta has been selected to do the asbestos abatement and demolition of the building, and the abatement should begin in the next day or two.  We are also in the process of setting up several events to help transition out the old building and transition in the new. One of these will be a “Wall of Memories” where you can put flowers or notes in memory of folks who have been served at the hospital. That might be functioning within the next few days, and we'd like for employees to take the lead in getting it started so the community will follow suit.  A formal ceremony to begin demolition of the building will be at NOON on Wednesday 12/19 and last about an hour, and the demolition folks will start tearing down around the MOB entrance following that.  We'll have a formal ceremony to celebrate a new beginning before we allow someone the honor of pushing the switch that will make the first hit on the building.  Look to the papers for more details on that in the next few days.

Patient Counts
Last week, the Urgent Care facility had a lighter week than normal by seeing 383 patients.  Outpatient Services saw 644 patients (their fifth busiest week), and the Oncology Clinic saw 131 folks (their fourth busiest week overall, and their third busiest week for non-chemo treatments).  When you add in the 47 patients seen by Rehab, we saw 1,205 people in all this past week, our seventh busiest week.  We've now seen over 40,000 people in all since the blue tents opened on 3/5.

Oncology administered their 3,000th non-chemo treatment last week, and Rehab provided their 1,500th physical therapy treatment last week.

Again, please understand that this communication is intended to be a rough update and is not intended to be a final determination of short-term or long-term plans.  Also, please be flexible, as things do change frequently and oftentimes with little warning.
