Sumter Regional Hospital receives more than $23,000 from Colquitt Regional Medical Center
Americus-- Sumter Regional Hospital continues to get assistance after last month's tornado devastated the organization and its two main buildings.

This time it was Colquitt Regional Medical Center (CRMC), which is located in Moultrie, about 125 miles south of Americus.    CRMC delegates, led by their President & CEO Jim Lowry, recently visited Americus to witness the damage to the hospital first-hand as well as present a check to their fellow healthcare workers.

CRMC donated $23,400 to SRH, which was hit by a F3 tornado on the night of March 1st and is currently conducting business in a field hospital across the street.  $10,000 of the total was donated by the CRMC hospital authority.  CRMC employees raised $7,500, the volunteer auxiliary raised $5,000 and the medical staff and authority members chipped in an additional $900.

“I know I speak for everyone at Sumter Regional Hospital when I say thank you to everyone at Colquitt Regional Medical Center for their generosity and support,” said Marcus Johnson, SRH Director of Marketing & PR.  “It is just another example of how close the medical community is in our state as well as the entire nation.  CRMC is a community hospital just like us and they know the importance of healthcare to a small community.  It has been truly amazing all of the support we have received, and it helps to know you have people on your side during such a trying ordeal.

So far, SRH has received more than $325,000 in donations, which have come from all over the United States.  If you would like to donate to Sumter Regional Hospital as it travels the road to recovery, please go to www.sumterregional.org and click on “Donations Needed”.  You can also call (229) 389-9123.
