Stegenga & Partners Donate $50,000 to Lions Club International for Sumter Regional Hospital
Posted 08/09/2007
Lions Club program will double the donation to $100,000 for tornado-damaged hospital.

Atlanta-based Architectural firm Stegenga + Partners, PC became the latest organization to pledge its support for Sumter Regional Hospital's Indestructible campaign as it recovers from the devastating March 1st tornado.

Architect Paul Stegenga donated $50,000 on behalf of his company to Lions Club International, which will double the donation to $100,000.

Dr. Leonard LaRussa, treasurer and president-elect of the local club, said that Lions International will match donations made for the hospital in a fund called the Sumter Regional Hospital Equipment Fund up to $75,000.

For instance, if an organization donates $1,000, Lions International will match another $1,000 up to $75,000, LaRussa explained.

The SRH Equipment Fund is currently set up at Sumter Bank & Trust for donations, LaRussa said.

Stegenga & Partners, PC has been active with projects in this community for the past twenty years, including many projects for Sumter Regional Hospital.  According to Stegenga, contributing the money towards the Lions Club was an obvious choice since they would match the amount.

“Americus is like a home away from home for me,” said Stegenga.  “I just wanted to do something for the quality of healthcare here because I know how much it means to the community.”
