United Methodist Women Donate More Than $500 to Local Hospice
Posted 08/15/2007
The United Methodist Women (UMW), a group of the Lee Street United Methodist Church of Americus, recently donated $504 to the Hospice of Americus & Sumter County.

The proceeds came from a project called “A Summer Cooler”, which saw the group sell hot dogs, homemade ice cream and cookies during this summer.  According to Carolyn Joiner, President of the UMW, the local Hospice was an easy choice to give the money to.

“We think so much of our local Hospice and the work that they do,” said Joiner.  “Anne Speer (Executive Director of Hospice of Americus & Sumter County) is one our church members and we really appreciate everything that her staff does for the community.”

Joiner says that the UMW is a mission society and they are active not only in this community but all over the world.
