Sumter EMC Donates $20,000 to Sumter Regional Hospital Sumter EMC became the latest contributor to the recovery of Sumter Regional Hospital by donating $20,000 to the hospital's foundation. The donation was funded by the Sumter EMC Foundation Inc., a non-profit organization funded primarily through donations from Sumter EMC members who participate in the cooperative approach to “people helping in need”. Participating members have their monthly electric bill rounded to the next whole dollar. All the funds thus generated are disbursed through grants made by the Sumter EMC Foundation Board of Trustess, which is comprised of Sumter EMC consumers who serve on a voluntary basis. Trustees award grants to causes to local organizations in need within Sumter EMC's service area, such as Sumter Regional Hospital after it was destroyed by the March 1st tornado. The donation will be used in the recovery of Sumter Regional Hospital in filling the need for equipment not covered by insurance. For more information on how you can support Sumter Regional Hospital's road to recovery, please call (229) 389-9123 or visit our website at www.sumterregional.org.
