After Hurricane Katrina, Reid Hospital and Health Care Services in Richmond, Ind., created a huge banner for Forrest General Hospital employees offering moral support. The banner hung in Forrest General's cafeteria entrance. In March, Sumter Regional Hospital in Americus, Ga., was severely damaged by a tornado. As a gesture of kindness and understanding, Forrest General Hospital created a banner for the hospital's staff. The banner was available to all Forrest General employees to visit and send words of encouragement to the staff of Sumter Regional. "We had a similar experience after Hurricane Katrina, when a hospital in Indiana sent us a similar token - and I can tell you that it meant so much to our recovery process. I hope that this will have an equally positive effect on Sumter Regional Hospital, knowing that people out there are thinking about them and caring about their recovery efforts," said Bill Oliver, FGH president. A beautiful oak box was designed and built by the FGH's carpentry and paint shop in the remodeling department to store the banner. The box was adorned with an engraved brass plate with the inspirational message that read, "May we always remember, problems become opportunities when the right people join together." The banner was mailed to Sumter Regional Hospital with a letter from Oliver. |
