Americus High School Class of '57 Donates to Sumter Regional Hospital
Americus -- In addition to celebrating its 50-year class reunion, the Americus High School Class of 1957 also wanted to give something back to an institution they know so well: Sumter Regional Hospital.

The class raised more than $1600 for SRH, which was severely damaged by a March 1st tornado.  The money will go to the hospital's foundation to help with the overall effort to get Sumter Regional Hospital back to full strength in the community.  The hospital recently moved its operations from a field hospital across the street to a more secure structure located in the parking lot of the old HealthPlex.  Plans for an interim facility on the site of the HealthPlex slab are currently underway, while the final decision on the damaged building is expected to be announced soon.

The Class of '57 has also challenged other Americus classes to match or beat their donation to Sumter Regional Hospital.
